Like so many other great ideas, Translation Clothing was created after a project I did when I attended the Academy of Art in San Francisco. With out any machine or any type of press, I learned the hard way of printing on the floor of my studio apartment. Yes it was messy and didn’t come out the best the first time, but after a couple of tries I got the hang of things. It was then I realized my new love for screen-printing. After the year ended I left the academy to learn more about my new passion. I started designing and making Oakland A’s shirts for my friends and family and also sold on the overpass at games. After my first season of selling I realized that this was what I wanted to do, I wanted to become a clothing designer. So for the next year I created my brand and my ideas for Translation Clothing.

Why the name?
As a graphic designer and artist I look at the world differently. I look at what people normally don’t look at. I noticed the deeper picture of things and my surroundings. All through college I was in graphic design classes where we really focused on understanding spatial concepts of shapes and lines. This is where I started to notice shapes/geometric shapes and lines rather than buildings and objects. It became a small obsession of mine and has stuck with me ever since. Translation came from my translation of how I view every day objects in a geometrically formed way.

Everything used in my screen-printing process are eco friendly and all my inks are water based. All apparel is American apparel.
